Welcome to the first in a new series of The Possibility Club podcasts looking in depth at the subject of modern slavery.
A challenging and sensitive subject, this short series will feature discussions between researchers, community practitioners, frontline service providers and more, exploring the reality and dispelling the myths of what modern slavery looks like in and around Sussex.
This series has been developed by always possible in collaboration with the University of Sussex and in each episode, we’ll highlight new perspectives in conversation with experts who bring a wealth of information and resources to build our understanding of this area.

In this episode, always possible Associate Tony Dillon, introduces our four guest speakers who have all contributed to the podcast remotely answering the same five questions. Our guests are:
- Sarah Braker from the Dept of Work and Pensions,
- Mark Charlton from Sussex Police,
- Elle Weaver from Together in Sussex
- Tim Read from Brighton and Hove City Council
Each has a range of perspectives on modern slavery: what it looks like in the here and now, how to raise awareness, ways to uncover and disrupt these forms of criminal exploitation, and how to support victims.
